Chicken with Lemongrass


1 whole chicken - cut into small pieces
2 lemongrass
1 yellow onion - sliced thinly
2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp coriander powder
2 tbsp curry powder
1/2 tsp turmerik powder
1 tsp chili powder
2 tbsp coconut milk

  • Heat oil in a wok.  Saute onion, cloves, star anise, cinnamon stick, lemongrass till fragrant.  Add in ginger garlic paste.
  • Add in chicken, curry powder, turmerik powder and chili powder. Cook for at least 20 minutes. Adding little water if needed.
  • Season with salt.  Add in the coriander powder and coconut milk. Cook till gravy is thick and slightly dry.
Dish out and serve with ghee rice or hot white rice.
